In Malaysia, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is the
largest electric power companies in particular are in Peninsular Malaysia,
formerly known as Lembaga Letrik Negara. While in Sabah and Sarawak, each
supplied by Sabah electricity Board (LLS) and Sarawak Electricity Supply
Corporation (SESCO). In addition, there is also a private electricity
companies, which also provide electricity in the country. According to Wikipedia,
business assets a sum of TNB is 60.0 billion. Its core business is to generate,
transmit and dividing electricity throughout Malaysia. TNB is also operator of
the National Grid, the electricity to the sender line network throughout the
country. More than 420 diSemenanjung substations linked by this network of
Malaysia through online 275kV and 132kV underground cable, 500kV. TNB has the
ability to generate electricity by 11, 296MW. Currently, Malaysia generates 86
percent of its electricity energy needs through conventional power plant while
the remaining 14 percent was produced by hydro power station.
Large generators used in power stations to generate
electricity. Most of the generator produces alternating current electricity
supply. Alternating going in and (a. u) is easier than direct current (d. c)
because it can be transformed to a higher voltage or lower through a device
called transformer. Thus, different voltage required can be supplied to
factories, offices, warehouses, residential houses and others. The number of
major electric power plant in Malaysia is by 32 units in Peninsular Malaysia
and in Sabah and Sarawak amounted to 15. The total electrical energy generated
by all this power plant is 20, 663MWe with power generation capacity of 96, 060GWh
a year. With an area of 329, 733sq. km and a population of 21.1 million in
Peninsular Malaysia and in Sabah and Sarawak amounted to 5.5 million in 2006,
demand for electricity is increasing every year. Estimated electricity needs in
the country in 2006 alone amounted to 14, 357MWe at 12, 990MWe in Peninsular
Malaysia and sebnayak 1, 367MWe in Sabah and Sarawak.
Therefore, through
the generation of electrical energy to the whole country, it will provide
comfort and convenience to all Malaysians in the lead day-to-day as well as
expedite their duties. For example such as cooking, ironing, etc.
