THE IMPORTANCE OF ELECTRICITY

Electricity is a necessity in life. Every day we use equipment – electrical appliances. In the developed world, we are increasingly dependent on a source of energy to perform any other daily activities. The importance of electricity and kegunaanya is too much to be dealt with.
The use of equipment-electrical appliances can also improve the quality of our lives as well as increase the well-being and comfort of life.

To ensure that the requirements of tanaga is always adequate and continuous and at reasonable prices, we have to use electricity efficiently, intelligent, and proactive.

Hope we all be concerned and aware of the role and shared responsibility to save fossil energy sources depleting as well as help in safeguarding the environment for future generations.

SOURCES OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY

Electricity can be produced melelui a variety of ways and resources. There is a wide variety of generation plants such as gas, plant plant tarbin tarbin steam and diesel plants that use fossil resources such as oil, gas or coal as fuel. Electricity can also be produced with hydropower, wind, waves, nuclear, solar beam and various other sources. Energy sources used for electricity generation should be easily obtained, suitable and cheaper and does not cause any harm or threaten lives and the environment.

In Malaysia, the electricity is generated with fossil fuel sources such as mimyak, natural gas, coal, and hydropower. Currently, approximately 60 percent of electricity generated with natural resources. The remainder use other resources such as oil, coal and hydropower.

Natural gas reserves in the nagara is believed to be able to cater for up to 50-60 years, if its use is controlled by the ideally, petroleum resources is expected to cater for a period of 20-30 years old. Other than that, we don't have a lot of coal resources.

In the meantime, almost all hydro energy, which is a type of renewable energy source, in Peninsular Malaysia was used even though there are many more hydro potential in Sabah and Sarawak which have not been explored, the cost of the construction of the hydro station in the Interior as well as the cost of sending electricity from Sabah or Sarawak from Peninsular Malaysia is too high.

UNDERSTANDING ELECTRICITY

Electricity generated in power stations was distributed in bulk to urban areas, industrial areas and so on through the high-voltage transmission system and ultimately to the consumers through low-voltage distribution system.

Electricity connected to the premises we are always exist and used at any time. We don't need to bother to mandapatkannya even when it needs it, we just need to pluck a switch only.
To make sure we can enjoy the convenience and comfort of contributed by electricity at any time, the electricity provider must ensure that the plant and its electricity supply system can accommodate the needs and always in good condition.

ALTERNATTIF RESOURCES THAT CAN REPLACE FOSSIL FUELS

Introduction
Alternative sources of renewable sources and environmentally friendly. The use of this resource can be used to generate energy. There are various resources that can be used as an alternative for reducing the use of fossil fuels, such as solar energy (sunlight), hydro-energy, hydrogen, biomass, and nuclear energy. But Malaysia just use only one energy, hydro energy

Hydro Energy

Hydro energy is also one of the popular alternative energy in developing countries to replace fossil fuels. Humans have used this power to run life since thousands of years ago further with water for spin the wheel pedal to grind wheat. This energy can be carried out if there is a river with swift flow. Swift River flows like a waterfall allows electricity generated. This is so because the flow of water that fell from the top of a waterfall allows turbine powered electric generator and thus generate electricity. Malaysia has a swift River then flows, allowing hydroelectric dam construction. For example, the Sarawak Bakun dam, Terengganu Kenyir dam and others. Therefore, it can be seen that alternative energy, such as hydroelectric power is now essential to the entire world's population including the supply of electricity.

Hydroelectric energy is also clean and does not pollute the air. This energy production do not free gas carbon dioxide that could pollute the air content and radio active materials or other chemicals that can pollute the river. This is in contrast with conventional energy such as petroleum which could pollute the air content during the process of pembakarannya around the power station. Hydroelectric energy also has become commercially because the energy safe and very efficiently to users.

In addition, hydroelectric power is also extremely cheap to generated. This is in accordance with the financial condition of developing countries such as Malaysia, which has not been so strong. Through the generation of hydroelectricity, it could provide a relatively lucrative return because this energy is one of the world's commercial energy.

THE IMPACT OF ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION

The use of inefficient electrical, intelligent and productive will result in resources such as oil, gas, coal and others used to create or digitize it.

Fossil fuels in this earth such as crude oil, natural gas and coal are formed about 150 to 300 million years ago. Over recent decades, the resources were used with fast rate compared with rates it replaced naturally. The utilisation rate of energy sources right now is 20 times faster than the early 20th century.

The burning of fossil resources for the generation of electrical energy will produce gases such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide and particles and toxic metal that can cause environmental pollution and negatively affect health and comfort if the condition is not controlled. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse that cause the effect of ' global warming '. Old and excessive exposure to haze can affect health. This Gas is also soluble in rainwater and make acid rain. Acid rain if entering the river or Lake can destroy aquatic organisms. All the negative impact of fuel consumption that if not controlled, would have a serious impact on our lives and eventually will destroy civilization on the planet Earth.

GUIDANCE FOR PRACTICING ELECTRICAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Here are some simple guidelines that can be adopted to use electricity efficiently, intelligent and productive as well as reducing our expenses on electricity.

i. the light.

• Use fluorescent lamp tube whether the application or ' compact x-ray fluorescent lamp (CFL BULB) and filament lamps. Fluorescent lamps are about 4 times more efficient than the filament.
• Use balancing cross less loss of energy or ' watt loss ' A Balance or "ballas" is an equipment for light kelimantang. Electricity used by crossbar the balancing menghaliskan thermal energy which is being lost.
• Use the ' direct task lighting ' or ' lighting ' and not a ' diffused lighting '.
• Use natural light whenever – where possible.
• Turn off the lights if not needed.
• When installing the lights, make sure the appropriate layout of pensuissan so that only the required light is turned on.

ii. Television

• Turn off the television if not to use it.
• If more than one, use one only if all families are watching the same plan.
• Select appropriate television size according to the family.
• If the television is equipped with a ' standby mode ' do not turn on ' standby mode ' is too long.

iii. refrigerator

• Select a refrigerator that uses less electricity with the same size.
• Select a fridge that has more than one door.
• When taking something from the refrigerator, make sure the door is not open too long because this allows hot heat into space in the fridge.
• Do not put hot food into the refrigerator. This will cause the refrigerator to work excess than it should.

iv. air conditioning

• Select air conditioning energy efficiency rate or ' Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER). Air conditioning with high (EER) is more efficient and less use of electricity.
• Select the air conditioning to the room size.
• When using air conditioning, make sure all doors and Windows closed so that cold air is not out of the room and cause air that operate in excess of.
• Do not manatah required temperature too low. Usually the temperature of 27 degrees Celsius is sufficient.
• Use blinds, curtains or roof awnings to prevent emission of the Sun from increasing the room temperature.
• When using air conditioning, use a fan together. This allows the cold air spread with more comprehensive and fast in the room without the need for air conditioning operate with excess.

v. fan

• Select a fan that use electricity but with air supply rate.
• When using a fan, make sure that the Windows and doors closed to rooms not fresh can drain in into the rooms. Let the window open because in the closed condition, lack of fresh air will cause we are not comfortable and lead us melajukan RPM fan, this will result in the use of electrical energy.

vi. water heater

• If using hot water for bathing and so on, use the water heater type immediately as this can save electricity consumption and compared to a storage type water heater.
• If buying a storage water heater type, choose the appropriate size and has good insulation layer.
• If using a storage-type water heater, planned use.
• Do not turn on water heater is too long before its use.
• To ensure safety, hot water equipment that must be protected by a circuit breaker to Earth (ELCB) appropriate and installed by qualified. If possible, use equipment that coated by plastic or rubber.

vii. washing machine

• Select the  washing machine using less electricity.
• Collect clothes that need to be cleaned so that the machine can be used efficiently.

viii. an electric kettle.

• Masaklah water according to need.
• If possible, use an electric water kettle.
• To ensure safety, make sure that a minimum water follow the syllabus.

ix. Electric Irons.

• Collect clothing or materials that can rub at one point.
• Never-once left an iron has not been used for so long.
• Make sure that the tetahan made in accordance with the required temperature and type pakaianan in the scrub.

x. other matters

• Before purchasing any electrical appliances, make a comparison in terms of power, capacity, or function between a few models and brands. Choose model and brand that is least use electricity but the facilities or services of the same.
• To ensure electrical appliances used works well, check out some electricity bill. Usually the amount of electricity we use every month is almost the same. If there is an increase in total electricity consumption upsurge, check your electrical equipment as this may be caused by the electrical equipment which is damaged or not working properly.
• Contact the Department of Electricity and Gas-for guidance and advice relating to how to use electricity efficiently and safely.
